My name is Srikanth Nair but you can call me Sri.
About Me
I am over 35 years old, was born in India but raised in Oman, went to university in America, spent time in Dubai and have been living in Australia since 2010. When I am not spending time building His church, I am either with my family, working on my own business Mustard Seed IT, teaching/tutoring at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) or serving the LORD in some capacity.
My Conversion
I was born a Hindu and wouldn’t come to know Christ until I was 20 years old. I didn’t go looking for Jesus but I know He came looking for me when I was a student at the University of Houston. This is the extremely short version and I might one day share the whole story. In the meantime, if you’d like to know more, I invite you to connect with me and I’d be happy to share the extended version.
My Calling
I don’t have a seminary/Bible college degree but know that the Lord Jesus has called me to serve Him. Who is my Teacher? Jesus is, that is His Spirit (God the Holy Spirit), as is written in the Word.
But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.
John 16:13
My Ministry
Over the past 15 years, the LORD has used me in many ways to touch many lives. Here are some of the ministries God used me in. If you have any questions or would like to know more, please feel free to contact me.
Fishers of Men
I am very grateful that the LORD gave me the opportunity to be involved in Fishers of Men (Brisbane, Australia) from 2012 to 2017. I volunteered weekly at one of the houses, teaching the Word of God, pointing the men to Jesus, helping them to freedom in Christ and mentoring them to be disciples and how to walk in His ways when they left the program.
Jesus Blokes
In 2012, the LORD asked me to start a men’s group/Bible study that would give men an opportunity to come together and study the Word, connect with each other and have the opportunity to be accountable to one another. It ran from 2012 to 2016 at Gateway Baptist Church (Brisbane, Australia).
Life Group
From 2012 to 2015, my wife Amanda and I ran a life group (home group/small group/Bible study) at Gateway Baptist Church (Brisbane, Australia), where we studied the Word of God, encouraged one another to truly follow Jesus and supported one another practically as a family in Christ.
Gateway Youth
In 2012, I was thrilled to be able to serve the youth at Gateway Baptist Church (Brisbane, Australia) where I had the opportunity to lead Bible studies and to disciple and mentor young Christians, to help them discover who they can be in Christ. Because I knew that the LORD wanted me to focus on being a husband and a father in 2013, I did not continue in the ministry, though I was still involved in other ministries in the church.
180 Degrees
It was at Emirates Baptist Church International (Dubai, UAE) that the LORD really began to do a work in me as a Christian. It was here that He challenged me to stop being a back seat Christian, to step out of the boat so He can help me walk on water. He did that by opening the door for me to serve the youth in the church, which I did from 2004 to 2009. I led the youth (until a youth pastor was appointed) by teaching them the Bible and what it means to be a Christian in the real world through intentional discipleship.
College & Careers
Emirates Baptist Church International had a young adults group but God started a revival amongst the group when a few of us realised that we needed to step up and not wait to be served. From 2004 to 2009, what the LORD did in C&C is incredible because nearly a decade later, we still talk about how we grew individually and collectively in Christ because of it. I had the privilege of leading Bible studies and faith focused discussions, as well as having the opportunity to purposefully engage in discipleship and mentoring, challenging everyone to be Christlike, to serve the LORD by serving in church. During my time in C&C, I know that God had called me to be a godly “big brother” to everyone and I always considered that an incredible honour.
Awana
From 2004 to 2009, I was very grateful to have been involved in Emirates Baptist Church International (Dubai, UAE) Awana ministry, serving as the Game Director and stepping into whatever roles needed to be filled. I really enjoyed working with the children and I know the LORD used it to teach me many lessons.
